Taiwan Trip: Day 1, part 3 (10 Oct 2010)

It was a foggy day and looked like it might rain, so we decided not to climb the 4 Beasts Mountain. It was something we looked forward to on this trip, but alas… Do go look it up, it is a nice and easy hike with some nice views over Taipei!

Instead, we spent the evening at Xinyi area. It’s pretty much a shopping district.

A colorful display entitled 20 LOVE 小虎 outside Shinkong Mitsukoshi Department Store.

A must-have! Fries with sour cream from Ireland’s Potato – my favourite! Yummy!! G’s favourite is New York Fries but that is not available in Taipei, keke.

7 Oct was the opening of the 1st Uniqlo store in Taipei. And there were attractive discounts over the weekend which explains the super long queue at the Hankyu department store! We were put off by the implied waiting time but later in the evening, the queue seemed shorter and we joined in.

I felt that it was very well organized and it made the shopping experience more pleasant. While in the queue, we were given queue numbers to ensure that only people with a queue number can enter the store. And, they regulate the number of people in the store so that it doesn’t get too crowded and uncomfortable. Although we did have to wait for some time in queue, I prefer doing that than inching forward amongst tons of people in the store and not being able to actually do any shopping!

And, here’s a misty view of  Taipei 101 on this night.
