Today, we went to the famous Tsukiji Fish Market which is one of the largest fish market in the world. As we woke up late, we didn’t visit the tuna auction that is opened to tourists between 5am- 6:15am. So, we went there for the sole purpose of eating fresh sashimi. When we got there, there were 2 long queues – one for Daiwa Sushi and the other for Sushidai. We chose Daiwa Sushi because the queue apparently moves faster as the restaurant is bigger (from our travel notes).
After standing in the queue for close to 1h, we entered the restaurant and had the BEST sashimi ever! We each got the standard omakase set at 3500 yen each. It comprises of 7 pieces of sushi and 1 roll. Expensive, right?! Initially, we thought of just getting 1 set and ordering individual sushi from the menu… but alas, when we entered the restaurant there was no menu in sight and the chef asked if we are ok to get the set, and so we did (partly out of not knowing what else to say/do).
